Great Benediction

Great Benediction
By Charles H. Spurgeon

“Go your ways and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and let men see who it is that lives in you. Let Jesus speak through your mouth, and weep through your eyes, and smile through your face: Let Him work with your hands and walk with your feet, and be tender with your heart. Let Him seek sinners through you; let him comfort saints through you; until the day break and the shadows flee away.”

Quoted from The Treasury of the New Testament by C. H. Spurgeon, Vol. III, Pg. 590. Concluding his sermon, “Christ In You.” Text: Col. 1:27.

Note: For any who may not know, Charles H. Spurgeon, was pastor of the Metropolitan (Baptist) Tabernacle, of London, England in the late 19th century, and preached to 5,000 people, morning and evening for almost 40 years.

My slight paraphrase of Spurgeon’s Benediction:

“Go your ways rejoicing in Christ Jesus and let men and women see Who it is that lives in you! Let Jesus speak through your lips, weep through your eyes, and smile through your face. Let Him work with your hands, walk with your feet and be tender with your heart. Let Him seek sinners through you and comfort saints through you until that day breaks and the shadows flee away.”

My prayer is that this will be true of all of us, In the name of our Risen Saviour,

Blessings, D. B.
